Merci!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my journal! I really appreciate it and hope you take a look at my gallery too. I have been to the cinema twice in the past twenty-four hours. I'm not kidding. On Friday, I went to the 5:45 showing of New Moon, and tonight I went to the 8:00 showing of 2012.
New Moon Overall, the movie was definitely better than I had anticipated. I wasn't really impressed with the performances of Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson (what a surprise) as I felt like the whole thing seemed very forced and false. I know that they are
technically false, because they're just acting, but when you're watching a movie you really want to feel the emotion that is captured in the moment and I didn't really feel any emotional connection between them at all. However, the graphics in New Moon were certainly a lot better than the previous movie, Twilight. I was surprised that the volturi were hardly in the movie at all, seeing as they make such an impact in the books. The movie was slow at first, with a lot of insight into Bella's depression after Edward left her. Towards the end everything sped up- it was like they had started filming the movie with all the time in the world and then realized that they didn't want to make the movie six hours long, so they squeezed in a fight and a cliffhanger ending.
I know it sounds like I hated it, but it really wasn't all that bad. I went to see it with my Twilight-loving friends, who were all wearing their "Edward prefers brunettes" hoodies. The place was crowded with teenage girls all buying popcorn and ben and Jerry's and screaming whenever Robert or Taylor came on the screen. Even when they weren't shirtless.
2012This movie is one big roller-coaster ride. The plot just keeps getting more and more intense, and desperate as the movie goes on, but it works really well, and it keeps you interested for the whole three hours that the movie is showing for. I actually thought that the actors in this movie were sooo much better than the ones in New Moon, even the children. You had to laugh at the crazy dude obsessed with YellowStone, who constantly appeared to be on magic mushrooms or some other drug. There were sad moment and funny moments in all the right places. At times I couldn't watch because I didn't want to see what would happen: there are so many near death experiences in this film it is unbelievable. I think to properly enjoy the movie you can't take the movie seriously. I have friends who are determined that 2012 will actually happen, and they refuse to see the movie because they feel it would scare the hell out of them. Yeah... it's not going to happen. The theory works great for making an action film, but not so much for real life.
I'm a girl who isn't usually into action movies, but this was pretty amazing. The graphics were outstanding, and it would be amazing to go and see this film in either 3D or the IMAX. I completely recommend that you go to see this movie, it's worth it.
